The BoSoma Youth Company (BYC) of the BoSoma School of Dance is a community outreach dance group for ages 11-18 committed to sharing the art of dance at a wide variety of local venues. This pre-professional performance group offers students the chance to take their training outside the classroom and into the community at places such as town fairs, after-school programs, fundraisers, and other local events. In addition, youth company dancers are given the opportunity to enhance their dance education through workshops, master classes, and intensives. In order to participate in the BYC, students must commit to attending the Jr or Sr Intensive Annual Program Classes, attend 1-2 weekly rehearsals as scheduled through out the school year as well as the BSD Summer Intensive held in August.

The BoSoma Youth Company is an opportunity offered to Jr. & Sr. Level intensive study students at our Hamilton location interested in performing throughout the year. Students are NOT required to participate in the Youth Company, but a commitment to the Company does come with specific requirements, as outlined below.

2025/2026 Schedule of Events 

 

BSD Summer Intensive 2025 - (Required)

Location: BSD Hamilton, August 11-15th, 11:30am-5:30pm

All BYC dancers are required to attend our 1 week Summer Intensive. The SI offers students the opportunity to study classic technique styles including ballet, modern, tap, jazz contemporary, Haitian, hip hop and more with guest teachers from the New England area. In addition to technique classes, students may also explore improvisation, dance composition, tumbling and dance history.

Friday, September 5th - BYC Holiday Show Audition & First BYC Rehearsal (Required)

Location: BSD Hamilton 

Time: 6pm-8pm

Required for participation in the Holiday Show. Students must arrive on time in dress code with hair neatly done and should bring all dance shoes. Weekly Winter Concert rehearsals will run from September through December during scheduled BYC rehearsal time. (Some weekend rehearsals will be required based on casting, dates TBD).

Friday, October 10th - Annisquam Craft Fair (Open to all Seniors)

Time: 5:30pm-8pm Need 6-8 dancers, first to respond. 
 

Saturday, November 15th 2025 - Spaulding Education Fund Night of Stars (Open to all Juniors/Senior Int)

Location: Manchester-Essex Memorial School 4:00pm-7:00pm

Saturday, February 7th, 2026 - NEYDEX (Open to all BYC)

Location: The Dance Theater at Boston University, 915 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215

Time: 8:30am-8pm Classes, Tech and an Evening Performance. $95 fee per performing dancer (seniors) and a $55 fee per non-performing dancer (juniors). Parents will be able to purchase tickets for the evening performance. Refer to the NEYDEX permission form below for details.
 

Friday, March 27th - Sunday, March 29th - New York City Dance Invitational (Open to all BYC)
