The BoSoma Youth Company (BYC) of the BoSoma School of Dance is a community outreach dance group for ages 8-18 committed to sharing the art of dance at a wide variety of local venues. This pre-professional performance group offers students the chance to take their training outside the classroom and into the community at places such as town fairs, after-school programs, fundraisers, and other local events. In addition, youth company dancers are given the opportunity to enhance their dance education through workshops, master classes, and intensives. In order to participate in the BYC, students must commit to attending the Jr or Sr Intensive Annual Program Classes, attend 1-2 weekly rehearsals as scheduled through out the school year as well as the BSD Summer Intensive held in August.
BSD Summer Intensive 2020
One week of the BSD Summer Intensive is required for dancers who plan to participate in the 2020/2021 BoSoma Youth Company. This summer we will be offering 2 weeks of camp so that all prospective BYC dancers have the opportunity to learn choreography which will be performed through the season at Move For The Movement, and the New England Youth Dance Exchange (NEYDEX).
During each Summer Intensive week, the Sr and Jr level students will each learn a complete dance from a guest choreographer. If a student attends one week, they will be cast in one dance for the season's shows. If they attend the two weeks offered, then they will be cast in two dances (one per week).
BSD Summer Intensive dates: August 10-14 & August 17-21
To receive the 10% discount, register and pay in full by April 1st.

BYC Fundraising Group Information
The BYC Fundraising Group, made up of parents of the dancers, offers a way to subsidize the costs of BYC-specific costumes, dance convention fees, travel costs, and any additional goals we establish each year. Participating in fundraising events is NOT required. The costs for each BYC costume, dance convention and trip(s) will be outlined in September for each dancer and their parents. Parents may choose to pay for the costumes and events on their own or with funds raised from fundraising. Additional events and costumes may be added throughout the year. BYC students and parents do not have to take part in ALL fundraising events. You may opt in or out of each fundraising event we do, but there will be a deadline to opt in/out in order to take part. Once you opt out, you will not receive any updates on that particular fundraising event and you will not benefit from that fundraiser, including any “group” portions of the event.
Meetings for The BYC Fundraising Group will be held regularly, led by BYC Board Members Eileen Lannon, Amy Moquin and Michele MacBeath. Fundraising information will be distributed by the BYC Board directly. Performance details and information will be distributed by Directors Katherine and Stephanie directly.
